What materials do I need?

To make Mack the Moose Amigurumi you will need worsted weight yarn in any fiber, since gauge is not critical, you can use pretty much any #4 weight yarn. You will also need both a G/6/4.00mm and an H/8/5.00mm crochet hook, stuffing, safety eyes in either brown or solid black, and buttons for his nostrils.

Notes

  • This pattern is worked in continuous rounds, with no joins or chains, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Beginning chs do not count as stitches.
  • Watch for Hook size changes.
  • Stuff pieces, so they are slightly firm. Do not over-stuff or the stitches will stretch and the stuffing will show through.

Scarf

With Black and H Hook, 

R1. Ch 7, sc in back bump of 2nd ch and each ch across, turn (6)  

Starting plaid:

R2. With Dark Red: ch 1, dc x 2, with Black: dc x 2, with Dark Red: dc x 2, turn (6)  

R3. With Bright Red: ch 1, dc x 2, with Dark Red: dc x 2, with Bright Red: dc x 2, turn (6)  

R4-34. Repeat 2 & 3

With Black,

R35. Ch 1, sc across; Fasten. (6)

Finishing

  • Attach head to body, so round 24 of the body is attached to round 20 of the head.
  • Flatten openings of arms and attach to round 21.
  • Attach legs to bottom of body, leaving them open, and attaching over rounds 1-4, one stitch apart.
  • Flatten openings on ears and attach to the sides of the head on round 4. 
  • Attach nubs to antlers, one over rounds 11-13 & 14-16.
  • Flatten openings on antlers and attach to top of head at round 3, directly over the ears.
  • Attach snout to front center of face (over rounds 10 – 19), directly under eyes, so eyes rest on top of the snout. 
  • Attach nostrils to round 5, curving the edges, so the ends attach to the space to the space between rounds 4 & 5. Leave 2 stitches between them.
  • Attach eyelids so they are resting on the tops of the eyes. 
  • Wrap scarf around the neck and cross tails over each other, then place stitch or a (dot of hot glue) where they cross to keep it in place. 


And there you have a Mack the Moose Amigurumi!
