And the best part? It’s completely reusable—simply button it around your oven handle, cabinet pull, or fridge bar and switch out towels as often as you like.
Why You’ll Love the Crochet Moose Towel Hanger
This crochet towel hanger isn’t just cute—it’s practical, too. Here are some reasons you’ll love making (and using) it:
- Adorable Home Décor: With its big antlers and sweet face, the moose adds a rustic and cozy touch to any kitchen or bathroom.
- Perfect for Gifting: Handmade towel hangers make thoughtful gifts for holidays, housewarmings, or cabin getaways. Pair it with a festive dish towel, and you have a ready-to-go present!
- Reusable & Eco-Friendly: Unlike sewn-on towel toppers, this design allows you to swap out the towel whenever you like, reducing waste and extending its use.
- Customizable: Choose yarn colors to match your personal style or your seasonal décor. Imagine a classic brown moose for everyday use or a white-and-gray moose for winter holidays.
- Beginner-Friendly Construction: If you can crochet simple stitches and sew pieces together, you’ll find this project accessible and rewarding.
Adding a Rustic Cabin Vibe to Your Home
Rustic decorating has become more popular than ever, with cozy textures, plaid fabrics, and woodland-inspired details leading the way. This crochet moose towel hanger fits right in with cabin, farmhouse, and lodge-style spaces. Picture it hanging in your kitchen alongside buffalo plaid towels and warm wooden accents.
Even if you don’t live in the woods, adding a handmade moose hanger is an easy way to bring a touch of the outdoors inside. It also pairs beautifully with seasonal décor. In the fall, hang it with pumpkin or acorn towels. For winter, swap in Christmas-themed towels with trucks, trees, or snowflakes. Year-round, it adds a cozy and cheerful detail that feels both fun and practical.
Great for Holiday Decorating
If you decorate your home for the holidays, this moose towel hanger is an absolute must. Its rustic look works beautifully with Christmas themes—especially when paired with red and black buffalo plaid towels. Add it to your kitchen or bathroom as a festive touch that also serves a purpose.
A Handmade Gift That Stands Out
Handmade gifts are always special, but it can be tricky to find projects that are both beautiful and practical. That’s why this crochet moose towel hanger makes such a standout gift. It’s something people will actually use, and it doubles as décor.
You could even make several and gift them during the holiday season. Imagine handing out handmade moose towel hangers to friends and family, each paired with a holiday dish towel. It’s a practical yet thoughtful handmade gift that’s guaranteed to bring a smile.
Gift ideas:
- For Christmas: Pair with a set of festive towels and maybe even a jar of homemade hot cocoa mix.
- For Housewarming: Add it to a basket of kitchen essentials like dish soap, sponges, and a few decorative towels.
- For Cabin or Lodge Owners: Nothing says “welcome to your cozy retreat” quite like a handmade moose hanger.
Plus, this towel hanger goes great with the Moose Bowl Cozy, Pot Holder, and Mug Cozy, so you could make a Moose themed gift basket! Just add soup or baking mixes and it’s the perfect gift for the kitchen!

Functional Meets Fun
We all know how frustrating it can be when towels constantly slip off oven handles or cabinet pulls. That’s where towel toppers really shine. The buttoned strap on this moose towel hanger keeps your towel securely in place, so it’s always right where you need it.
And because the towel is removable, you don’t have to crochet a new hanger every time you want to change the towel. Just unbutton, slip out the towel, and replace it with a fresh one. It’s a little convenience that makes a big difference in a busy kitchen.
Customizing Your Crochet Moose
One of the best things about this crochet moose towel hanger is how easy it is to customize. Here are some fun ideas:
- Color Variations: Stick with the classic dark brown body and cream antlers, or try a lighter brown, gray, or even a white moose for a snowy look.
- Seasonal Versions: Create a festive red-nosed “Rudolph Moose” for Christmas, or make a pastel version for spring décor.
- Accessorize: Add a small scarf, a tiny crocheted bow, or even jingle bells to give your moose extra personality.
- Eyes: Use safety eyes, embroidered eyes, or even buttons for different expressions. Larger or smaller eyes can completely change the mood.
These small details let you create a one-of-a-kind towel hanger that matches your personal style or the occasion you’re making it for.
Craft Fair Best-Seller Potential
If you sell at craft fairs or online, towel toppers are already a fan-favorite because of their practicality and gift-ready appeal. Add a moose to the mix, and you have something truly unique that shoppers won’t see everywhere else.
Pair it with seasonal towels—buffalo plaid for Christmas, floral for spring, or pumpkin-themed for fall—and you’ll have a product that practically sells itself. Not only is it eye-catching, but it’s also a conversation starter. People are naturally drawn to cute animal designs, especially when they’re functional.
Tips for Success
Here are a few tips to help your crochet moose towel hanger turn out perfectly:
- Choose the Right Yarn for You: Acrylic yarn gives a whimsical softness to the finish, plus has built in moisture wicking, while cotton yarn provides structure that helps keep the towel hanger sturdy and prevents stretch.
- Secure Your Antlers: Because the antlers stick out, sew them firmly in place so they hold up to repeated use.
- Pick the Right Button: Choose a sturdy, oversized button to make it easy to fasten and unfasten the towel. Wooden buttons add to the rustic vibe.
- Match Towels to the Theme: A moose hanger looks especially cute with plaid or holiday-themed towels. Keep a few on hand so you can swap them out seasonally.
Pairing With Other Crochet Projects
This moose towel hanger is just one way to bring woodland charm into your crochet projects. You can also make:
- Moose Amigurumi: A stuffed moose toy to match your towel hanger.
- Moose Mug Cozy: Wrap your coffee cup in woodland cuteness.
- Moose Christmas Ornaments: Smaller versions to hang on your tree.
- Other Towel Hangers: Add traditional towel hangers to the mix!

About the Materials
The Crochet Moose Towel Hanger shown was made using 100% Acrylic Worsted Weight Yarn, but cottons and blends can be used for this project too! Great yarns for this towel hanger are Knit Picks Brava or Knit Picks Dishie, because of the color options!
In addition you will need gems or buttons for the eyes and nostrils. My favorite choice for these features are black gems, but safety eyes, shank buttons, or hole buttons could be used also.
