How to Make a Halloween Treats Tote Free Crochet Pattern
The Halloween Treats Tote is a fun and sturdy trick or treat bag crochet pattern. This bag can hold a good amount of candy! No need for additional bags!

There is lots of customization option for this crochet tote, plus this pattern includes applique instructions: “Boo”, Ghost, Pumpkin, and Spiders.
You can also design your own graph for the front panels easily using stitch fiddle or another pixel art program. I added some graph ideas at the end of this post.

100% Cotton Worsted Weight Yarn (#4)
- Black – 288 yds / 6 oz
- Orange – 96 yds / 2 oz
- White (Ghost) – 24 yds / ½ oz

Notes
- This bag is worked with double strands, excluding the appliqués.
- Double strand means to hold two strands of yarn together and work them as if there is only one.
- Chains do not count as stitches, except in the handle.
- Where asterisks appear, repeat the instructions between them.
- This tote is made using Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Black, Hot Orange, & White.

Instructions
SIDES & BOTTOM STRIP – K Hook
With Double Strand One Black and One Orange together,
R1. Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, ch 1, turn (8)
R2-68. sc in each st across, ch 1, turn – end of row 68: do not turn, continue to step 69 (8)
R69. sc in end of each row and in every st around outer edge, putting 2 scs in the 1st and last st of the short sides. Fasten. (156)
FRONT/BACK PANEL (MAKE 2) – K Hook
With Double Strand Black Only,
R1. Ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch ac ch 1, across, ch 1, turn (20)
R2-24. sc in each st across, ch 1, turn – end of row 24: do not turn, continue to step 25 (20)
R25. sc in end of each row and in every st around outer edge, putting 2 scs in the 1st and last st of the short sides. Fasten. (92)
HANDLE – K Hook
With Double Strand Orange,
R1. Ch 5, dc in 3rd ch from hook and last 2 chs, turn (3)
R2-80. Ch 2, dc in each st across, turn – Fasten at the end of row 80. (3)
R81. Sew short edges together (be careful not to twist it) and loosely sl st around outer edge on both sides. Fasten.
GHOST – H Hook
With Single Strand White,
R1. Ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook (2)
R2. Ch 1, sc in each st (2)

PUMPKIN – H Hook
With Single Strand Orange,
R1. Magic ring, 6 sc in ring (6)
R2. 2 sc arnd (12)
R3. *2 sc, sc* arnd (18)
R4. sc, 2 sc x 4, sl st x 2, 2 sc, sl st x 2, 2 sc x 4, sl st x 2. Fasten.
PUMPKIN LEAF – H Hook
With Single Strand Green or Brown,
Ch 4, hdc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, sl st in last ch. Fasten.
PUMPKIN STEM – H Hook
With Single Strand Green,
Ch 3, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in last ch; Fasten.
SPIDER – H Hook
With Single Strand Black,
R1. Make magic ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring (6)
R2. sc arnd, sl st x 1; Fasten. (6)
Add fringe to two adjacent stitches, skip one, add fringe to the next two stitches. <Legs>
“B” – H Hook
With Single Strand Any Color,
R1. Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across
R2. Ch 5, skip 4 sc, sl st to next sc, ch 7, skip 3 sc, sl st to last st, turn
R3. Ch 1, 8 sc in ch-7 space, sl st to end of ch 7, 7 sc in ch-5 space; Fasten.
“O” (Make 2) – H Hook
With Single Strand Any Color,
Ch 15, join to form a ring, 18 sc in ring; Fasten. (18)
Finishing
- Hold top corner of front panel to corner of side panel, with RS facing out on both, and working down the long side of the side panel: With Orange, sc in both layers (black panel and mix panel) around the three sides of the black matching up every stitch. Repeat for other black panel. (SEE PHOTO 1).
- With Orange, sc in every stitch around the top of the bag.
- Turn bag inside out and attach the handle to the bottom center and up the sides of the mix panel. (SEE PHOTO 2)
- Turn bag right side out and attach appliqués to the black panels.
- Hide all strings.
