One of the best features of a water bottle holder is its ability to keep your hands free, while still having access to water as needed.
Whether you’re going for a walk around the neighborhood or hitting the trails, having both hands available can be incredibly valuable.
Plus, this water bottle holder is made using d-rings for attaching a phone pocket, which means you also have a place to clip your keys!
This crochet water bottle holder pattern includes three reinforced strap sizes and two bottle holder sizes, so you can customize to perfectly fit your needs!
With the long strap you can wear it crossbody, allowing you to move freely without worrying about it falling off your shoulder.

There is still an option for a shoulder strap if that’s your preference!
Another thing that’s great about a crochet water bottle holder is that they are reusable and eco-friendly, while also being quick to work up and easy to wash!
An added bonus is that a water bottle holder provides protection for your reusable bottles! Some of these bottles can get quite pricey, so it’s nice to have a little cushion to keep it in great shape!
If you really love crocheting bags, you may also like the Double Waves Beach Bag, Patchwork Tote Bag, or the Native Sun Square Bag!
So grab your crochet hook, choose your favorite colors, and let’s get stitching!

Finishing
- Insert one end of the strap through a d-ring, fold over approximately 2 stitches from the tip of the strap and stitch into place. Repeat with the other end of the strap.
- Lay bag flat, mark side edges, and attach d-rings/strap to R23(27) of the bag, making sure to stitch low enough so the drawstring can be added. I stitched them onto the base of the two double crochet group (SEE PHOTO BELOW).
- Weave drawstring in and out of R23(27), so the tails are front and center.
- Add lanyard clips to pocket side holes.
- Clip the pocket onto d-rings.
- Hide all strings.
