This pattern is an easy skill level pattern with it’s basic stitch work and simple color changes. I would even go as far to say that a confident beginner could accomplish this project.

The great thing about these towel hangers is that they can be made in any buffalo plaid color pattern, so they don’t have to be exclusive to Christmas!

Check out the “How to Create Buffalo Plaid” post to learn more about how to make buffalo plaid and how to choose the colors!

5 Alternate Hanger Options

If you don’t like the look of wooden rings or simply don’t have access to them, there are other items you can use to create rings for the ends of these Buffalo Plaid Towel Hangers!

Crochet Rings – You can chain 10, join to form a ring, and then sc in the ring.

Shower Curtain Rings – Shower curtain rings are a great super cheap option! You can get them in many colors, including clear, and you can get metal ones!

Small Embroidery Hoops – Embroidery hoops can be found at all craft stores and big box stores that have a craft department. You will want smaller rings in the 3″ area.

Binder Rings – Binder rings can be found at all big box department stores and office supply stores. You will want 2-3″ rings.

Seamless Metal O-rings – Grab some metal rings that don’t open. Similar to binder rings, you will want them to be 2-3″.

Of course the size of the ring can be adjusted. I like smaller rings, because it holds the towels tighter, but larger rings are aesthetically pleasing too!
