Crochet Birthday Party Hat – Free Pattern
The crochet Birthday Party Hat was originally designed for my daughter’s first birthday, but after it was done I realized it makes for a beautiful keepsake and fun yearly tradition!

Each year I make a new one in different color combinations, so she can have them for years to come and maybe pass them down to her children!
The crochet birthday party hat pattern is mostly made up of single crochets, making this pattern suitable for the confident beginner and up!

Worsted Weight Yarn (#4)
~Approx. 1.5oz (Any Variety of Colors)
I/9/5.50mm Crochet Hook (for Hat)
G/6/4.00mm Crochet Hook & H/8/5.00mm Crochet Hook (for Numbers, Dots, and Hearts)

Alt. dc = Alternate double crochet
ch = chain
dc = double crochet

Notes
- Hat is worked in continuous rounds with no joins or chains.
- Instructions are given to make the hat in a solid color. To make the Pink stripes: Change colors every 4 rows, making 5 total stripes (ending with Color A). For Purple stripes: Make first color change at round 12 and next color change at round 13.
- PDF version now includes a printable template to help choose color placements.
- The pattern for the numbers has been moved and it now numbers 0-9.

R1. Magic Ring, 5 sc in ring (5)
R2. 2 sc arnd (10) Close. Fasten.
HEARTS – G Hook
Small (Make 2)
Magic Ring, ch 3, 2 trc, 2 dc, ch 1, trc, ch 1, 2 dc, 2 trc, ch 3, sl st to ring. Pull ring closed and shape heart.
Large (Make 2)Magic Ring, ch 3, 3 trc, 3 dc, ch 1, trc, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 trc, ch 3, sl st to ring. Pull ring closed and shape heart.
Finishing
- Add a pom pom to the top (of round 1).
- Sew or glue the “number” to the front.
- Sew dots or hearts randomly around the hat.
- Optional: Add buttons to the center of the dots or hearts and add ribbon for ties.
- Hide All Strings.
