Freshman Slouch – Free Crochet Pattern

Sharing is caring!

This hat is my second entry into the My Mountain Man contest. I wanted to design something that had fun textures, but was still fairly simple..and, of course, perfect for the guys.

This contest is about the guys in our lives and the mountains they are facing; my oldest son just started high school this year, and we all know that’s a mountain in itself. Slouch hats also happen to be his favorite style..so here we have the Freshman Slouch!

The cool thing is, this slouch was designed so that the brim can be rolled up and the hat turned into a beanie!

This patterns calls for Boston Original Yarn, which is a #5 wool blend. You can get it on sale HERE. Other great alternatives would be Lion Brand Alpine WoolCascade Superwash 128, and Bernat Roving. You can also use Boston Style for a fun twist!
