Floating Hearts Convertible Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern
This Floating Hearts Convertible Beanie can be worn in multiple ways. It can be worn as a traditional beanie or you could leave the drawstring loose and wear it as a pony tail hat. You could also leave the drawstring open all the way and create a bandana look or it can also be worn as a cowl.

Special Stitches
extended single crochet (esc)= insert hook in stitch, draw up a loop, YO, pull yarn through one loop, YO, pull through both loops.
extra extended single crochet (eesc)= insert hook in stitch, draw up a loop, *YO, pull yarn through one loop* 2X, YO, pull through both loops.


Notes
- Beginning chains do not count as stitches
- Escs will be worked into the skipped stitches of the previous round making them Long escs.
- Color changes will be indicated at the beginning of the round where the change should be made
Instructions
Round 1. With Color A: Fdc 60, leave a long tail, join with a sl st to 1st Fdc using long tail to close gap (60)
Round 2. Ch 2, FPdc in 1st dc, ch 2, skip 2, *FPdc, ch 2, skip 2* around, sl st to join in 1st FPdc (20 dc, 20 ch sps, 40 skpโd sts)
Round 3. Ch 2, FPdc in 1st FPdc, long esc in next two sts, *FPdc, long esc x 2* around, sl st to join in 1st FPdc (20 FPdc, 40 esc)
Rounds 4-5. Repeat rounds 2 & 3
Round 6. Switch to Color B: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join in 1st sc (60)
Round 7. Ch 1, sc in the same space as ch, eesc in next, *sc, eesc* around, sl st to join in 1st sc (60)
Round 8. Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join in 1st sc (60)
Round 9. Ch 1, eesc in same space as ch, sc in next, *eesc, sc* around, sl st to join in 1st eesc (60)
Round 10. Repeat round 6
Round 11. Repeat round 7
Round 12. Repeat round 8
Round 13. Repeat round 9
Round 14. Switch to Color A: Repeat 6
Round 15. Repeat 7
Round 16. Switch to Color B: Repeat round 8
Round 17. Repeat round 9
Round 18. Repeat round 6
Round 19. Repeat round 7
Round 20. Repeat round 8
Round 21. Repeat round 9
Round 22. Repeat round 6
Round 23. Repeat round 7
Round 24-25. Switch to Color A: Repeat rounds 8 & 9
Rounds 26-29. Switch to Color B: Repeat rounds 6 โ 9
Round 30. Ch 1, esc in each st around, sl st to join in 1st esc (60)
Rounds 31-33. Repeat rounds 7 โ 9
Round 34. Switch to Color A: sc in each st around, sl st to join in 1st sc. Fasten off. (60)

Finishing
- Create a drawstring by chaining 75; leave long tail on both ends, fasten off, and weave through round 30.
- Attach heart buttons to the long tails on each end of the drawstring.
- Using yarn needle and preferred yarn color, sew heart buttons over rounds 8, 11, and 21.
- Hide all strings.
