Crochet Numbers

These numbers were made to go with the Birthday Party Hat pattern. 

 Of course, they can be used for any project!

Here’s the pattern:

Materials

Worsted Weight Yarn (#4)

G/6/4.00mm Hook

Yarn Needle

Scissors 

Stitch Guide

ch = chain

dc = double crochet

esc = extended single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

sc = single crochet 

YO = yarn over

Size

4” tall (approx.) using worsted weight yarn and G hook.

This will vary with hook and yarn choices.

Notes

*Some numbers may need to be shaped slightly while attaching to your project. 

*Beginning chains do not count as stitches

*For double digit birthdays, I suggest using a DK Weight. 

*I used Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton & Bernat Handicrafter  to make the numbers above.

Special Stitches

Extended Single Crochet (esc) = Insert hook in stitch indicated, draw up a loop, YO, pull through first loop on hook, YO, pull through both loops on hook. This is used in place of a double crochet when starting a row.

Instructions

ONE

1. Ch 10, sc across, ch 1, turn (9)

2-3. sc across, ch 1, turn (9) 

4. sk 1st st, sl st x 2, sc x 3 , ch 1, turn <leave last 3 sts unworked> (3)

5-11. sc across, ch 1, turn (3)

12. sc across – do not turn (3) 

13. Ch 5, sc across ch and each st, ch 1, turn (7)

14. sc x 3, sc3tog, sk last st, ch 1, turn (4)

15. sc across, ch 1, turn (4)

16. sc x 2, dec. Fasten. (3)

TWO

1. Ch 10, sc across, ch 1, turn (9)

2-3. sc across, ch 1, turn (9) 

4. sc x 4 (leave last 5 sts unworked), ch 1, turn (4)

5. 2 sc, sc, dec, ch 1, turn (4)

6. dec, sc, 2 sc, ch 1, turn (4)

7-12. Repeat 5 & 6

13. Alt.dc, hdc ,sc, sl st, ch 1, turn (4)

Sew where it crosses over rows 7-9 to create “4”. Hide strings.

Sew short end to long end to create “9”. Hide strings.

ZERO
