About the Materials
To make the braided crochet pumpkin you will need yarn, a crochet hook, and some stuffing. To determine the yarn and hook size, I suggest using the hook listed on the label of whatever yarn you choose. To make the crochet pumpkins in the photo you will need worsted weight yarn and an H/8/5.00mm crochet hook. Note: The pumpkin shown was made with worsted weight yarn. Changing the yarn weight will change the pumpkin size.
What are the stitch multiples?
The crochet feather stitch is worked over an odd number of stitches, so the beginning chain needs to be an even number.
What else do I need to know about the Braided Crochet Pumpkin?
The stitch used is reversible, so there is no right or wrong side. I do prefer to cinch the bottom and make that the inside, but it will be hidden when on display, so it won’t be critical if you forget to flip it right side out before closing off the top.

What does the back bump in round one mean? Having a hard time understanding how to start the pattern.

The back bump is the bumps on the backside of the chain. You’ll see them if you flip the chain over.
