What is the crochet Suzette stitch?
The crochet Suzette stitch is a beautifully easy stitch pattern that creates a lightly textured, reversible fabric, with a one row repeat stitch that’s easy to replicate. The Suzette stitch is made with a combination of single crochets and double crochet worked into the same space.

What are the stitch multiples?
This Suzette Stitch is worked in an even multiple. This pattern as written starts with a beginning chain 13 for a total of 12 stitches, but this can easily be adjusted by adding or removing 2 chains from the beginning. This will determine the width of the strip, which is the height of the wrap once added to the jar.
About the Materials
For my Suzette Stitch Jar Cozy, I used King Cole Linendale DK in the colorway Mushroom. Linendale DK is a #3 weight yarn that is 57% Cotton 30% Viscose 13% Linen. I found it to be a dream to work with and it gave my jar wrap a stunning finish.

Notes
- Beginning chains do not count as stitches.
- This pattern is worked in an even multiple; the instructions are written for a beginning ch-9, but you can add or remove chains in multiples of 2.
- The instructions are written to fit a standard 1/2 quart mason jar. For different size jars, adjust by multiples of 2 in the beginning chain.

Instructions
R1. Working in the back bump of the chain across:
Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (12)
R2-5. Ch 1, sc across, turn (12)
R6. Ch 1, hdc in 1st st, skip next stitch, *(sc, dc) in next st, skip 1* across, hdc in last st, turn (2 hdc, 5 sc, 5 dc)
R7. Ch 1, hdc in 1st st, skip dc, *(sc, dc) in sc, skip dc* across, hdc in last st, turn (2 hdc, 5 sc, 5 dc)
Repeat R7 until the fabric measures 11” or matches the measurement of your jar/cup.
R8. Ch 1, sc in the end of evenly down the side, in every stitch across the bottom, evenly up the other side, and every stitch across the top, keeping a loose tension; Fasten.
Finishing
- Sew buttons over R3, spaced evenly apart.
- Use the spaces between suzette stitches (single crochet + double crochet groups) as buttonholes.
- Hide all strings.
