These instructions are written for an child sized Sublime Vest, which includes four sizes (2T, 4/6Y, 8/10Y, and 12Y), but there are also adult sizes available!

What Materials do I need?

This crochet cascade vest is worked using a worsted weight cotton yarn, specifically Sublime Yarns Evie. Unfortunately, this yarn is now discontinued, but you can find other options on yarnsub.com, such as Juniper Moon Farm Cumulus or Lion Brand Yarn Mako.

With Color A,

R1. Fsc 44(50,56,62), turn (44)[50,56,62]

R2. Ch 1, sk 1st st, 2 hdc in next, *sk 1, 2 hdc* across, turn (44)[50,56,62]

R3-5(5,5,6). Repeat row 2

With Color B,

R6(6,6,7)-8(9,9,11). Repeat row 2

With Color C,

R9(10,10,12)-11(12,13,15). Repeat row 2

With Color D,

R12(13,14,16)-13(14,16,18). Repeat row 2

With Color E,

R14 [Size 2 only]. Repeat row 2; move to Color F.

R15(17,19)-16(18,20) [Sizes 4/6, 8/10, 12 Only]. Repeat row 2; continue to Color F.

With Color F,

R15(18,20,22)-16(20,22,25). Repeat row 2;

FRONT PANEL 1
With Color F,

R1. Ch 1, sk 1st st, 2 hdc in next, *sk 1, 2 hdc* 13(15,17,19)X, turn (14)[16,18,20]

Attach yarn in same space that row 1 of front panel ended in:

R2. Ch 1, sk 1st st, 2 hdc in next, *sk 1, 2 hdc* across, turn (16)[18,20,22]

R3-5(7,9,11). Repeat row 2; Fasten at the end of row 5(7,9,11).

Continue to front panel 2.


FRONT PANEL 2
With Color F,

Attach yarn in same space that row 1 of back panel ended in: 

R1. Ch 1, sk 1st st, 2 hdc in next, *sk 1, 2 hdc* 13(15,17,19)X, turn (14)[16,18,20]

R2. Ch 1, sk 1st st, 2 hdc in next, *sk 1, 2 hdc* across, turn (14)[16,18,20]

R3-5(7,9,11). Repeat row 2; keep a working loop

Continue to shoulders.


SHOULDERS

Fasten inner corner of the front panels to the adjacent corners of the back panel (one stitch): 

With Color F,

R1. Ch 1, sk 1st st, 2 hdc in next, *sk 1, 2 hdc* across the top of all panels, turn (44)[50,56,62]

R2-3. Repeat row 1; Fasten at the end of row 3.


Finishing
  • Hide all loose strings. 
  • Optional: Add fringe to the end of each row across front panels (length as desired).
