STACKED YARN BALL ORNAMENT

Materials
*#2 or #3 Weight Yarn
-Red (A)
-White (B)
-Green (C)
*E/5/3.5mm crochet hook
*Fiberfill Stuffing
*Ornament Hook
Stitch Guide
ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
Surface sl st = See Special Stitches
TLO = See Special Stitches
YO = yarn over

Notes
Pattern is written for 3 colors. One color could be used if desired.
Special Stitches
Third Loop Only (TLO) = The third loop on the back side of a hdc. To work in this stitch (for this pattern), you will “fold” the top (front & back) loops forward and work into the third loop instead. Aka Camel Stitch.
Surface Slip Stitch (surface sl st) = Working slip stitches across the top of the project.
Instructions
LARGE BALL
Working in continuous rounds,
1. Make magic ring, 5 hdc in ring (5)
2. Working TLO: 2 hdc arnd (10)
3. Working TLO: *2 hdc, hdc* arnd (15)
4. Working TLO: *2 hdc, hdc x 2* arnd (20)
5-6. Working TLO: hdc arnd (20)
7. Working TLO: *dec, hdc x 2* arnd (15)
8. Working TLO: *dec, hdc* arnd (10)
9. Working TLO: dec arnd (5)
Stuff yarn ball lightly
10. LOOSELY surface sl st up the back, across the top and down the front to the starting point.
11-12. Repeat 10, working parallel to the others
13. LOOSELY surface sl st up the back, across the top, and then halfway down the front; surface sl st across the last 3 surface sl sts, and then finish surface sl sts down the front. Ch 6, sl st across ch, sl st to bottom to fasten. Hide string.
MEDIUM BALL
Working in continuous rounds,
1. Make magic ring, 8 hdc in ring (8)
2. Working TLO: 2 hdc arnd (16)
3-5. Working TLO: hdc arnd (16)
6. Working TLO: dec arnd (8)
Stuff yarn ball lightly
7. LOOSELY surface sl st up the back, across the top and down the front to the starting point.
8-9. Repeat 7, working parallel to the others
10. LOOSELY surface sl st up the back, across the top, and then halfway down the front; surface sl st across the last 3 surface sl sts, and then finish surface sl sts down the front, ch 6, sl st across ch, sl st to bottom to fasten. Hide string.
SMALL BALL
Working in continuous rounds,
1. Make magic ring, 8 hdc in ring (6)
2. Working TLO: 2 hdc arnd (12)
3-5. Working TLO: hdc arnd (12)
6. Working TLO: dec arnd (6)
Stuff yarn ball lightly
7. LOOSELY surface sl st up the back, across the top and down the front to the starting point.
8-9. Repeat 7, working parallel to the others
10. LOOSELY surface sl st up the back, across the top, and then halfway down the front; surface sl st across the last 3 surface sl sts, and then finish surface sl sts down the front, ch 6, sl st across ch, sl st to bottom to fasten. Hide string.
Finishing
*Hide all strings.
*Attach yarn balls in stacked position biggest on bottom and smallest on top.
*Add ornament hook to top.
