How to Make Friday Slippers for Adults – Free Crochet Pattern
Slippers are probably one of my favorite items to crochet! The Friday Slippers got their name, because they are so quick you can make them in an evening!

Notes
- Beginning chains do not count as stitches.
- Do not turn unless otherwise indicated.
- Instructions are written for smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses.
- Final stitch count for smallest size is in parentheses and larger sizes are in brackets.
- This pattern is written for the stripes version. Skip color changes for a solid pair.
- I was able to get a woman’s size small in solid and a small in stripes from one 7oz/247yd ball of yarn (plus a small amount of accent color).
Special Stitches
Extended Half Double Crochet (ehdc) – YO, insert hook in stitch indicated, YO, draw up a loop, YO, draw through one loop on hook, YO, draw through all loops on hook.
Third Loop Only (TLO) – The loop on the backside of a half double crochet that runs parallel to the front & back loops. Aka Camel Stitch.

With Color A,
R1. Magic Ring, ch 2, 11(11,12,12) ehdc in ring, sl st to join in 1st ehdc, do not turn (11)[11,12,12]
R2. Ch 2, 2 ehdc arnd, sl st to join in 1st ehdc, do not turn (22)[22,24,24]
R3. Ch 2, ehdc in each st arnd, sl st to join in 1st ehdc, do not turn (22)[22,24,24]
With Color B,
R4. Repeat 3
With Color A,
R5. Repeat 3
With Color B,

>>Optional: Break yarn here, count 8(8,9,9) stitches to the right of the seam, attach yarn, ch 1, and start R14 by sc-ing in the same space as chain. This will hide the seam on the bottom of the slipper.

With Color A,
R18(19,20,19)-25(25,26,26). Repeat R15
Turn heel flaps inside out, hold the two flaps together, and working through both layers, sl st in each st down to close up heel, turn and sl st in each sl st back up the heel; turn heel right side out. <SEE PHOTO>

26(26,27,27). Ch 1, ehdc in the end of each row and in each st arnd, sl st to join, do not turn (30)[30,32,32]
27(27,28,28). Ch 1, ehdc x 14(14,15,15), dec, ehdc arnd, dec over last 2 sts, sl st to join, do not turn (28)[28,30,30]
28(28,29,29). Ch 1, TLO ehdc arnd, sl st to join, do not turn (28)[28,30,30]
29(29,30,30). Ch 1, TLO sc arnd, sl st to join; Fasten. (28)[28,30,30]
Finishing
- Hide all strings.

You must have read my mind. My grandsons slippers were eaten by the dog (Labrador, I don’t need to say more) and I thought I would whip him up some slippers. Thank you so much.
These were PERFECT! I weighed my yarn after 1 slipper and had extra yarn, so I made the ankle cuff higher by repeating row 28 a few extra times. I was confused by the decrease instruction but guessed and it worked out. There will be more of these!
