Notes
- Batting is used for heat resistance. This will provide more padding and protection from hot surfaces, however, two layers of crocheted cotton is typically thick enough for short term protection (from oven to stove top). Cotton Batting can be found in any store that sells fabric.
- 100% cotton yarn (and batting) is recommended. Acrylics can melt if they become too hot.
- A yard of fabric (batting) = 36โณH, 1/4 yard of fabric = 9โณH, but the width is 54โณ wide and batting doesnโt have a specific cutting direction.
- Beginning chains do not count as stitches.
- Where asterisks appear, repeat the instructions between them.
- Where parenthesis appears within the instructions, work all of those stitch in one stitch/space.
- For the edging: use a loose tension to avoid pulling and puckering. If you have difficulty loosening your tension, use a J/10/6.00mm crochet hook for these rows.
- Edging instructions can be found in the โfinishingโ section.

- Fold the remaining portion of the large panel up over the batting and small panel. Pin into place as needed. <Front pocket created>
- Insert hook in bottom right corner, through all 3 layers, and using brown yarn single crochet in the same space and in end of each row up the side, in each stitch across the top, and in the end of each row down the left edge. Fasten. Make sure you’re working through all crochet layers around. Do not crochet across the top of the pocket.
- With Red yarn, attach yarn 10 stitches below the pocket edge (on the right side of the pot holder, and working over to approx. 10 stitch below the pocket edge on the left side of the pot holder: Ch 1, sc x 3, *ch 1, skip 1, sc x 3* across; Fasten.

- Attach wings by lining up that flat side with the edge of the pot holder and sew into place.
