Whatever Sweater in Adult Sizes – Free Crochet Sweater Pattern

The Whatever Sweater is a fully customizable adult crochet sweater pattern with lots of options, so it can be whatever sweater you want it to be!

This post contains affiliate links. At no extra cost to you, I may receive a small commission from purchases made through affiliate links, which helps me to keep bringing awesome free content!

The customizing all starts with making the side to side yoke and then choosing additional options from there!

First, choose whether you want a cardigan or pullover.

Then decide if you want it to be waist length, hip length, or a long knee length finish.

You can make it with full length sleeves, leave it sleeveless, or meet in the middle with half sleeves.

>> Also available in 6 child sizes! <<

And if you’re a pocket lover, there’s even instructions for square after-thought pockets!

Plus, you play around with yarns! The crochet sweaters I made use Bernat Pop, which is a fun self striping variegated yarn, but it also looks great in solid colors! Just check out the projects on Ravelry!

By now you’ve probably caught on to why this pattern has been named the Whatever Sweater, because it can whatever you choose for it to be!

Notes
  • Beginning chains do not count as stitches.
  • Where asterisks appear, repeat the instructions between them.
  • Sweater is written for smallest size, with larger sizes in parenthesis.
  • The top panels are worked in short rows, so the stitch count is the height and the rows are the width.
  • The decreased side of the Front Panel is the top center.
  • This sweater can be a pullover or cardigan. Both instructions are included.
  • Length can easily be customized by continuing the body until it’s at the desired length.
  • Yarn estimates given are based on a hip length cardigan.
  • Closures for the cardigan are optional.
Special Stitches

Herringbone half double crochet (Hhdc) – YO, insert hook in stitch indicated, YO, draw up a loop and pull it straight through the 1st loop on hook, YO, draw through both loops.
