I have had this set of hooks in my Amazon cart for a while, so it was a no-brainer when Knitter’s Pride contacted me to see if I would like to review any of their products! And while this item was given to me for review, all of the opinions are strictly my own honest impressions.

So let’s dive in!

The Ginger Tunisian Crochet Hook Set is a set of twelve interchangeable Tunisian crochet hooks ranging in sizes all the way up to12.00mm, which is single handedly the most exciting part for me. I have searched and searched and searched for large hook sizes, but you cannot find them in stores near me. I have checked all the major craft retailers and LYSs the most you can find is a K/6.50mm (even online most sets don’t go past a 10mm). I wanted to be able to use chunky yarns, which would just curl up, since Tunisian Crochet should be worked with a hook 2 -3 sizes larger than the yarn label suggests. So, having a 12mm hook is awesome!

The one downfall to these hooks as it relates to size is that they are not labeled by millimeter, with the exception of the largest hook. The smaller hooks are labeled by letter/number, which can be confusing to some people, especially the G/6, since that could be a 4.00mm, 4.25mm, or 4.50mm depending on brand (in this case it is a 4.00mm).

The sizes are as follows:

E/4/3.50mm
F/5/3.75mm
G/6/4.00mm
7/4.50mm
H/8/5.00mm
I/9/5.50mm
J/10/6.00mm
K/10.5/6.50mm
L/11/8.00mm
M/13/9.00mm
N/15/10.00mm
12.00mm

This set also comes with four screw-on cords in various sizes: 1 – 24″, 2 – 32″, 1 – 40″. This makes switching from small to large projects a snap! Even though there are only 4 cords, this set actually comes with cord connectors, so you can make them even longer by joining multiple cords together! Plus, the cord is flexible, not stiff, so it is easy use and doesn’t get in the way of your project!

The cords include a handy cord key tool to make sure the ends are tightened on fully, which I do suggest using. I was too excited to get started, so I just screwed it on by hand, and I had to keep tightening the cord because it would slip back and then my yarn would catch on the gap.

These cords also include large end caps to prevent the project from slipping off, which I have to say I like a lot. They are larger circles, so they work well with chunky yarn. Other brands have small stoppers, so big stitches can pop right off, but these held my Tunisian Twist-Front Earwarmer in place.

The Ginger Tunisian Crochet Hook Set is the most beautiful polished wood, making them lightweight and easy to work with. Like aluminum hooks, the yarn glides right across them, but they don’t get icy cold like metal hooks do.

As if the great quality hooks weren’t enough, this set also includes some extras: a matching pen and stitch markers!

The stitch markers are colorful metal circles and squares (some large, some small), which I find super cute. I did give them a squeeze test, and they do bend if you try, but I don’t see this effecting them as stitch markers… unless there’s some death metal rock style of crocheting I’m unaware of.

But wait! That’s not all! … seriously, it’s not! The case also doubles as a pattern holder! It folds into a triangle stand and even includes magnets for pinning your pattern down. Plus, one of the magnets is a long straight magnet, so it doubles as a line reader! What what?!

Oh, and one more thing I noticed: the case can also be used as a cell phone holder! I’m not sure if this was an intentional part of the design, but it certainly makes it even more appealing!

To say I’m impressed by this set is an understatement! It really goes above and beyond what you would expect from a Tunisian crochet hook set!

I’m kind of wishing I had purchased these when I first added them to my cart a few years ago! I really missed out! I had so many Tunisian crochet project ideas, but never had the hooks and then when I would think about buying the hooks, I would back-burner it, since I was working on traditional crochet projects. Now the Tunisian crochet world is my oyster! LOL!
